Description
OldRite.org, is your trusted source for understanding and connecting with the true Old Rite tradition of the Orthodox Christian faith.
The term Old Rite refers specifically to those churches and faithful who have preserved the pre-reform Orthodox Christian practices, rubrics, and calendar as they existed prior to the 17th-century liturgical reforms introduced by Patriarch Nikon in Russia. These traditions are upheld not out of nostalgia, but from a deep commitment to the faith and order handed down through generations in unbroken Apostolic succession. All fall under the Belokrinitsa Hierarchy. Belokrinitskaya
We invite you to explore the depth and beauty of the true Old Rite tradition—and to know the difference between genuine continuity and modern imitation.
Who We Are & Who We Are Not
It’s important to clarify that OldRite is not a label that can be claimed superficially! If a church or community is under the jurisdiction of a NewRite (post-reform) organization and claims to be OldRite while continuing in NewRite practices, that is a falsification. OldRite is not just about aesthetics or occasional rituals—it is about full liturgical, theological, and ecclesial continuity with the pre-reform Orthodox tradition.
On this website, you’ll find everything about what constitutes genuine OldRite:
